Who can be a Brownie?
Girls may join 1st Ceara Brownies after their 8th Birthday (when they stay in school until 3 o'clock), and can stay in Brownies until they reach the leavers class. Membership is open to any girl attending Ceara regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance, provided she is able to understand and willing to make the Brownie Promise.
Brownie Promise:
I promise that I will do my best:
To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
To help other people and
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.
The Brownie Law is:
A Brownie Guide thinks before herself
and does a good turn every day.
Brownies may make their Brownie Promise in any way that she can - she does not hav e to speak to make her promise. She may sign, use a communication board, pictorial aids, gesture or computer.
When do 1st Ceara Brownies meet?
1st Ceara Brownie Pack meets on Tuesday afternoons at 3.00pm until 4.00pm
What do Brownies wear?
Brownies can choose what they want to wear from a range of Brownie uniform. In 1st Ceara Brownies, girls up to 10 years old wear the Brownie uniform. Girls between 11years and 14 years may wear the guide uniform and girls aged 16+ may wear the Ranger uniform. www.guidingessentials.org.uk
What do 1st Ceara Brownies do?
1st Ceara Brownies have fun! They take part in indoor and outdoor adventure activities that challenge and encourage them to do their best. Our meetings are action packed and full of challenges, arts and crafts, badge work, campfire songs and team games that we play in our sixes.

The pack is made up of small groups called sixes. There are two sixes in Ceara Brownies: Leprechauns and Sprites. You wear a special badge on your uniform to show which six you belong to. A team of adult leaders run the pack. Our leaders are names after owls: Brown Owl, Tawny Owl, Snowy Owl, Barn Owl and Little Owl.
Badges
There are also lots of different badges to do. Some of the badges 1st Ceara Brownies have worked for include Cook, Fire Safety, Safety in the Home, Party Planner, Communicator, Seasons. The Brownies are currently working on the World Guiding Badge.

Brownie Adventure Days
There are also Brownie Adventure days to look forward to: Each year on 22nd February, Brownies (and Scouts) all over the world remember their founders Lord and Lady Baden Powell. 1st Ceara Brownies join with Brownies from other Packs for a big party. This year we are having an African themed party on Thursday 24th February. We are looking forward to meeting Brownies from other Brownie Packs. It is great fun meeting new Brownies and learning new games and crafts.
